A little sketch done at the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge. The last of the ice was melting out of the water and the geese and swans were calling overhead as we painted. It’s such an incredible experience to stand still for a few hours in one place. You become part of the landscape and begin to blend with the rhythms of nature. You don’t get that when you are walking along a path or even through the woods. The frogs and insects start humming around you and muskrats will go about their business as if you belong there.
