Fresh off the Easel
In my studio is a large shelf unit where I keep my still life props. It is a crazy mix of things I have collected. Some from my childhood, an odd assortment of china pieces from my grandmother, vases handed down from my mother, skulls from the woods, things passed on from friends… I have used these things mostly for teaching, but sometimes something cries out to me to be painted, and when that happens, I set aside all other work and go at it. In the midst of preparing for the Cedarburg Museum show, these two little characters sassed so loud one day that I just couldn’t resist.
