Grand Marais Plein Air

I am just back this past week from Grand Marais Minnesota where I participated in the Plein Air event run by the Grand Marais Artists Colony.  Could there be a more beautiful place to paint?  Tom and I stayed at a state park south of town. There were a few storms that came through during the nights, but we stayed warm and dry.  September makes for cool nights, comfortable days and hardly a mosquito!   Every time I go out to paint I am struck with how lucky I am to make a living this way.  Who else gets to sit a look at one tree or a beautiful body of water for hours at a time?? It is always my hope that a little of the essence of  that day makes it into my paintings. I am also honored to have been awarded “Best Night Painting” for my painting “Spinning Yarns”.  It was a wonderful show, and a blast to meet up with other artists.  Here are a few images from my week.
